When you put a new file on your hard disk, under some circumstances, it may be stored in several pieces at different locations on the disk. Such a file is called a fragmented file, and if many files on a hard disk are fragmented, the disk may begin to slow down considerably. onesΓÇöit is especially susceptible to the problem of fragmentation.
To correct this situation, the best course is to reinitialize your drive. Since reintialization will erase all files on the drive, you must be sure you have a complete DiskFit backup first. After the drive is backed up, use the Manager utility to reinitialize your drive. You can then use DiskFit to restore your backed-up files to the drive.
